Domestic Storage Heating Upgrade – Social Housing Block, Cardonald

Project Overview

Assure Group was appointed to deliver a domestic storage heating upgrade within a multi-story social housing block in Cardonald, Glasgow. The project involved the removal of outdated and inefficient electric heating systems and the installation of new, energy-efficient storage heaters to improve comfort, performance, and energy efficiency for residents.

The works formed part of a wider housing improvement programme aimed at enhancing living standards, reducing energy consumption, and ensuring compliance with current electrical and safety standards.

Challenges

Delivering upgrades across multiple occupied residential blocks required careful planning and coordination. Residents remained in their homes throughout the programme, meaning access, communication and minimising disruption were key priorities.

Each property presented individual logistical considerations, including varying occupancy schedules, resident needs and differing electrical infrastructure. Assure Group ensured works were carried out safely, efficiently and with minimal inconvenience to tenants.

Effective programme management was essential to ensure timely completion across 90 dwellings in several blocks. Assure Group developed a structured installation programme, coordinating closely with housing representatives and residents to maintain progress while allowing flexibility for access arrangements and resident availability.

Key programme priorities included:

  • Clearly defined installation targets and milestone tracking

  • Coordinated property access to maximise efficiency and minimise repeat visits

  • Phased delivery across multiple blocks to maintain consistent progress

  • Close collaboration with client representatives to ensure programme certainty

This structured approach ensured works progressed efficiently while maintaining a high standard of installation throughout the wider estate.

Working within occupied homes required a professional, respectful and resident-focused approach. Assure Group ensured all operatives communicated clearly with tenants, provided advance notice of works and maintained clean and safe working environments.

Particular care was taken to minimise disruption, complete installations within agreed timeframes and ensure residents were fully informed on the operation of their new heating systems.

Outcome

The programme was delivered successfully in line with milestones, upgrading 90 flats across multiple social housing blocks with modern, energy-efficient storage heating systems that improved thermal comfort and reliability.

Assure Group’s structured programme management and resident-focused delivery ensured the contract was completed efficiently, supporting improved living conditions at scale while maintaining a professional and considerate approach throughout.
