Electrical Rewire and Lighting Upgrade – Crematorium, Glasgow

Project Overview

Assure Group was appointed to deliver a comprehensive electrical rewire and lighting upgrade at a large Crematorium in Glasgow. Located within a peaceful, landscaped cemetery setting, the crematorium provides a calm and dignified environment for families attending services and remembrance ceremonies.

The project formed part of wider refurbishment works, including the full upgrade of electrical systems within the B-listed building to modern standards, ensuring safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Challenges

Working within a crematorium presented unique challenges. The building remained a place of active bereavement services, meaning the programme had to be carefully planned to avoid disruption during services and to preserve the respectful atmosphere essential to the environment.

In addition, the heritage status of the building required a sensitive approach to installation, ensuring that modern electrical infrastructure could be integrated without compromising the character or integrity of the space.

Understanding the emotional significance of the crematorium was fundamental to the delivery approach. Assure Group ensured all operatives were briefed on expected conduct and site sensitivities, maintaining professionalism, discretion, and respect at all times.

Noise, disruption, and visual impact were carefully controlled. Work areas were isolated where possible, and progress was coordinated around service times to preserve the peaceful environment for families and staff.

Outcome

The project was delivered successfully in line with programme milestones, providing the crematorium with modern, safe, and efficient electrical infrastructure and improved lighting throughout the facility.

Assure Group’s structured programme management, combined with a respectful and considerate approach to the environment, ensured the project was completed to a high standard while maintaining the dignity and continuity of this important community facility.
